Jeremy Hutchinson

This is pretty cool, I find mysef drawn more to these kinds of design projects, is there something wrong with me?

  1. Not at all.

I think you like their precision and immediacy.

But I also think that some of the problems that arise with globalised production are the exact sort of problems that designers are trained and informed to deal with.

One thing they are very good at is providing a certain "cognitive mapping"; of synthesising overwhelming information into condensed simplicity, and digestible representation.

I personally really like the elegance of these projects because all the fat has been trimmed. THey are so succinct. But at the same time they are very communicative as per the training of designers to "communicate" ideas / viscom. I think this always means that these projects are a little bit foreclosed, they are a bit too neat, a bit too direct, a bit too digestible.

Overall though I really aspire to that level of precision and concision.
