Not really, not since my OULIPO days. To be honest, I think it is kind of a high school strategy for artists that don't have anything to say yet, though I suppose it fits into the history of conceptualisms use of constraints. Actually, I think its a good device for art school students because its like training for the real world when you have to deal with the real world imposed arbitrary constraints by the curator/gallery/proposal/grant body/site-specific environment that the artist needs to work from.
